Work: Mountain Guide

Location: Based in Chamonix, France

Fully qualified and actively working as a guide for 15 years.

Working and climbing mainly in the European Alps with trips to Peru, Bolivia, Nepal, Canada, and rock climbing in France, Italy, Spain, Sinai and North America.

Previous experience includes:

  • working with the Ski Patrol on Cairngorm, working as Glenmore Lodge (Scottish National Outdoor Centre).
  • Founder member of both B.A.S.P (British Association of Ski Patrollers) and R.E.C. (Rescue and Emergency Care):
  • teaching practical and emergency care and first aid.
  • Running the 'Off Piste and Safety' module for the B.A.S.I (British Association of Ski Instructors)
  • Co-ordinated the training and assessment scheme of the B.M.G (British Association of Mountain Guides) for 4 years as 'Training Officer' and am still involved in running some of the courses

Currently:

  • Enjoy rock climbing on time off and the odd Alpine route
  • Still very keen to climb Alpine routes which I've not yet done both for myself and with clients
  • Not very keen to climb Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn which I've done too many times and are very busy
  • Thoroughly enjoy ski mountaineering and off piste skiing and am constantly on the lookout for good venues which are a bit quieter than Chamonix
