JONATHAN
COPP
Jonathan Copp, born in 1974 in Singapore, learned
how not to climb at Taquitz and Suicide and Joshua Tree with an
electricians harness and nylon tow rope. He later found better friction
when trading in his Vans tennis shoes for a pair of Boreals. Since
then he has pioneered new routes and climbed in places like Patagonia,
India, Canada, Pakistan, Indonesia, the illustrious Black Canyon
of the Gunnison and many others. He currently supports his adventures
through writing and photography. www.unitao.com
"A common theory within philosophy
is that we, as humans, fear what we do not understand. I've seen
this fear, in turn, become the catalyst that fortifies stereotypes,
prejudice and general disillusionment. Whether it's confronting
the misconception of a mountain and its' dangers or of a people
and their culture, to face those fears that distort reality is a
goal of mine in travel." (from interview).
