INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF MOUNTAINEERING One of the most respected guiding organizations in the world, the International School of Mountaineering based in Leysin, Switzerland, was originally created by the American climber John Harlin. A close-knit team of international guides, the ISM's present Director is Pat Littlejohn. The ISM offers basic and advanced alpine climbing courses, together with regular organized expeditions to locations such as the Tien Shan.
