Ultra Violet Protection Factor 50

Ultraviolet radiation or UV, is present in sunlight. Sunburn is a sign that your skin has received too much UV. Over-exposure to UV over many years can cause serious health problems. It is often diffi cult to tell if a fabric offers good sun protection.
Lowe Alpine uses the AS/NZ5499 standard which has been developed in Australia and New Zealand. The Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) shows how well a fabric protects your skin from solar UV and lets you select sun protective clothing with confi dence. The table shows how well fabrics of various UPF ratings block UV.
